The Craft

Close-up of intricate gold embroidery on a dark agbada fabric, dim atmospheric lighting, detailed hand stitching visible

Material Heritage

Aso-oke fabric, hand-woven on narrow-band looms in Iseyin — the same technique used for Yoruba royalty for over 300 years.

Sourced directly from master weavers
Tailor's hands carefully stitching embroidery on a kaftan collar, warm close-up lighting, dark workshop environment

Woven into
every thread

At OMAOJ, craftsmanship is not a feature — it is the foundation. Each piece begins with fabric sourced from generational weavers in Oyo State and ends only when our master tailors in Lagos are satisfied with every seam.

We make no compromises on time. An agbada takes up to 72 hours of hand-embroidery alone. We believe the man wearing it deserves to feel that difference.

Our Story

OMAOJ founder in their Lagos atelier surrounded by bolts of Aso-oke fabric, warm workshop lighting, dim atmospheric environment

8

Years

of craft

Rooted in
Yoruba craft,
made for today

OMAOJ was born in 2018 from a single conviction: that Nigerian men deserve native wear that rivals the finest bespoke houses in the world — without abandoning the soul of the culture that created it.

Our founder grew up watching his grandmother source Aso-oke from the markets of Iseyin. He built OMAOJ to honor that lineage — sourcing from the same weavers, using the same techniques, but applying the precision of contemporary tailoring.

Every piece is made to order. We do not do ready-to-wear in the traditional sense. We do ready-to-impress.

What They Say

Portrait of Nigerian businessman Emeka in a professional setting

Emeka Okonkwo

CEO, Lagos

My agbada from OMAOJ turned heads at my son's traditional wedding. The embroidery was unlike anything I'd seen outside of Aso-oke country itself.

Portrait of Nigerian professional Tunde, confident expression, warm lighting

Tunde Adeyemi

Architect, London

I wore an OMAOJ senator to my firm's gala in London. Three people asked who made it. I just smiled.

Portrait of Nigerian man Chidi, professional and composed expression, studio lighting

Chidi Nwosu

Surgeon, Abuja

The bespoke process was seamless. They took my measurements once, and the kaftan fit like it was born on my body.
